Clinging to the metal bars.
I'm screaming.
I want out.
The walls are closing in.
My captor turns around,
laughing in my face.
The shock sets in my head.
My captor is my love.
A heart is on the table.
I reach for my chest,
But I feel only a hole.
I can hear it slowly beating.
I watch my cracking heart,
As he stabs it again and again.
Each time I feel the pain,
It's killing me quietly inside.
My captor picks it up,
I can still hear it faintly beating.
He squishes it in his fingers,
Making my heart break in two.
I'm sprawled on the floor.
The tears are running fast,
And I'm begging him to stop.
But this is only the beginning.
She walks in,
Kisses him on the cheek.
His new partner in crime,
With his arm around her waist.
He drops my heart,
Letting it smash to the floor.
He leads her out the room,
And I cry as life slowly fades.

Love is giving someone the power to destroy you.
But trusting them not to.
Courage imperiles life, just as fear protects it.
